“Getaways to Dream About” Presents Travelers with an Optimistic, Post-COVID Future
Chartwell Agency, an award-winning marketing firm based in northern Illinois, created a social media campaign for the Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) during the COVID pandemic to engage and excite future travelers. The campaign won international and national acclaim.
As COVID overtook our nation in 2020, effectively halting all non-essential travel, RFD sought to position itself as the regional travel airport of choice post-pandemic while serving a bright and hopeful message. Recognizing people were spending more time online during the pandemic than ever before, Chartwell Agency created the social media campaign, Getaways to Dream About, which presented leisure travel as part of an optimistic future.
Chartwell’s imagery overlaid COVID-appropriate settings with colorful dreams of an eventual vacation. Additionally, thoughtful content shared details about the destinations to which RFD flies for further engagement. The boosted social media campaign was complemented by a strong, organic content strategy to capitalize on interest and excitement.
The Getaways to Dream About social media campaign resulted in more than double the industry average engagement rate and hundreds of thousands of total impressions and total unique visitors. The campaign also received international and national acclaim respectively by earning a Gold in the 2020 Marcom Awards and a Gold in the Service Industry Advertising Awards.
